The market at Carrer de la Volta

(Image: News published in the newspaper. Years ago, the building of St. Sever Street no. 3, was a board for Catholics and priests, called "LA VERDAD Pension").

Restaurant La Cassola.

Sant Sever, 3

Catalan food. Family run restaurant managed by four sisters. Formerly this building was a boarding house for priests and Catholics called "Pension of Truth".
Two alfondecs (marketplace) coexisted in the Jewish quarter of the city, a sign of commercial vitality. This marketplace was a group of buildings where merchants stored and sold their goods. One of the markets was inside the first block of Carrer de la Font (Fountain, current Sant Honorat) where the main entrance was. The other one was at the block where the church of Sant Sever is. This church was built in the 17th century at the same spot of Carrer de la Volta where the Jewish market had been. The marketplaces stopped being used as such after the official abolition of the Jewish quarter at the beginning of the 15th century. It is not known the structure and distribution of these markets. They used to have a direct entry to the central courtyard to bring goods in.
