This is Souvenir LB, managed by Laxman Kumar. During the 14th and 15th centuries, it is well documented that a “spicer” (or apothecary) lived and worked in this street. (spicers sold and prepared medicines, drugs or cooking spices, as explained further in QR from number 5 at carrer Llibreteria). This spicer we are talking about, Francesc Ferrer, died in 1410 leaving a few debts unpaid, and that is why there is such a detailed inventory of his property and its contents, as they were listed to be auctioned. The building had a shop at street level, and on the first floor there was the “main chamber” and a secondary one, probably the dining room. On the top floor is where the “sugar chamber” was. This last room is where the spicer worked with his preparations and stored oils and ointments. Out of all the rooms, the shop was the most spacious one and it had a counter with hinges. In the inventory there was a portable ladder with eight rungs, which lead to believe that the containers and boxes were kept in shelves
