Supermercats

C/ Baixada de la Llibretería #5

Establishment of food, food and beverages.

You are in front of Supermercat, run by Zulgymain Shah. During the Late Middle Ages, this street was named “Especieria” or “dels Especiers” because there were a lot of shops with this same trade. Especiers (could be translated into a derived word of spices, spicers) or apothecaries, they prepared and sold medicines, drugs, cooking spices, dyes, candy, candles, dried fruits  and perfumes. They attracted exclusive customers that were looking for exotic and expensive products. In this site, between 1363 and 1378, there was a spicer named Francesc Ses Canes, that had a shop and a workshop, and because he had no children, he contracted two apprentices and even a slave, he owned, to work for him. During the 20th century, this store became one of the most important haberdasher's in Barcelona, Merceria Mogas.

Establishment of food, food and beverages. It offers a wide range of local and imported products. Sale of fresh fruit, candy, cleaning products and perfumes.
